An investigation from the relationship between nonperforming Financial loans, Macroeconomic Factors, and Financial Factors in context of Private Commercial Banking institutions in Bangladesh


Depending on the research by Ranjan, and Dhal (2003), this study should investigate the relationship between nonperforming Loans, Macroeconomic Factors, and Financial Factors in framework of Private Industrial Banks in Bangladesh. The empirical research evaluates as to how banks' non-performing financial loans are inspired by 3 major models of economic and economic factors, i actually. e., conditions of credit, bank size induced risk preferences and macroeconomic shock absorbers. The conclusions prove support to the hypotheses that lender size and horizon of loan maturity has unfavorable influence in nonperforming mortgage. The various other variables regarded do not have any significant affect on non-performing loan. Simply 15 financial institutions have been chosen. The future analyze can embark on the same study with greater sample size.


Economic sector of Bangladesh, like the majority of developing countries, is focused by financial enterprises. Banks at early stages of history of Bangladesh were nationalized and there was mismatch between possessions and financial obligations. The central bank with the country had limited equipment to manage economic policy. Immediate tools namely determination of SLR/CRR, administered interest rate insurance plan and meaning suasion had been the man instruments of financial policy (Ahmed, 2005). The majority of banks pursued a policy of financial deepening through extending lender branches for the remote and rural areas without considering economic viability. Through this situation, causality between financial growth and performance of the economic sector could hardly be set up. There was a major policy change in early eighties when exclusive sectors banks were allowed in the country (Ahmed, 2005). In addition to the existing nineteen public sector and international banks, 15 new private banks exposed their business during early on 1980s. Thereafter, another six and 13 banks started commercial banking in the country during mid-1990s and early 2000s respectively. The sector set out upon a Financial Sector Change Program in the 1990s which usually primarily directed at entrusting added powers towards the central lender by conditioning efficacy of its devices (Ahmed, 2005).
